Lincolnshire documentary wedding photography at Lincoln Register Office & a DIY field wedding - Eleanor & Duncan
This was the most relaxed wedding I’ve ever been to. The only notes I had were what time and where I needed to be, the official ceremony time and the co-ordinates to find the field on Google Maps. It was all very exciting, not really knowing about the day ahead and also very refreshing, meaning my mind could go into the day completely clear.
I find I produce the best results when I have a clear head and don’t have any requests to clog up my mind. This is why I think I work best at relaxed weddings with relaxed couples. There are wedding photographers who prefer to have lists and lots of requests so if you’re looking for a wedding photographer it’s good to find one who matches your personality and style and not just one whose photographs you like, as they may have a different approach on the day to how you’d imagined. For example one might ask for every minute detail when you’re very chilled out and would rather go with the flow, or the other way around, they might be a bit too chilled out and you want to give them list of ‘must have’ shots that they don’t want.
The official civil partnership ceremony was at Lincoln Register Office in the late morning, then we all headed to a field near the village of Brinkwell for a pagan ceremony amongst some woodland at the back of the field, conducted by a friend, compete with hand tying and jumping over a broom. It was just lovely. Eleanor & Duncan had completely built the reception from scratch in a field. They had a marquee with some picnic benches for some shelter, a bar that had been built with a free bar, a fire pit where they were chopping wood to throw on, I have to say I’ve never seen a chainsaw actually being used at a wedding before! A live ska band - ska punk is one of my favourite genres of music so I really enjoyed these, playing covers of songs of Rancid and Goldfinger songs I’ve always loved. A lot of the guests were camping in the field too, it was all very beautiful and relaxed (I know I’ve used this word a lot but it’s a very appropriate word for this wedding!).
Here are a few of my favourite shots from the wedding day.
The known suppliers were:
Photography - KMGS Photography with Scott second shooting
Venue - Lincoln Register Office and a field near Brinkwell
Eleanor’s dress - Lucy Can’t Dance
Band - News For Parrots
Catering - Spitting Pig
DJ - Gecko Bar Discos
I like to include a lot of photographs in my blogs, rather than just selecting the absolute best few, to give viewers a good overview of the wedding gallery, so you’ll find images from each part of the day. Please do scroll down to see photos from the wedding ceremony, drinks reception, speeches, relaxed portraits of the couple and the party, after the prep and pre ceremony photos.
This is still only roughly 10% of the full wedding gallery.
