Derbyshire wedding photography at The West Mill - Luisa & Adrian
I was really looking forward to Luisa & Adrian’s big day at The West Mill. They booked me a few years previous for their 2020 wedding, which didn’t go ahead, we all know how that year went.
Due to having family from all over the world they had to postpone to 2021 and then again to 2022, when travel was fully allowed. Luisa’s family is German and Adrian’s Chinese so they had friends and family travelling from far and wide.
Some highlights included games hosted by their guests, a cartoonist and band, the evening do was a great party, led by the band The Daddy O’s, loads of dancing! I loved the atmosphere during the evening reception, the booths and decor made it feel like a fifties American Diner (not that I was around in the fifties but I’ve seen them on the TV!).
Their celebrant led ceremony was a really beautiful one, part of which was was a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, which was really lovely to witness.
I wouldn’t be a true Brit if I didn’t mention the weather, it chucked it down all day but it didn’t matter one bit, nobody would’ve noticed (well, maybe the smokers.). The West Mill is such a beautiful wedding venue and there’s so much amazing space indoors that there’s no need to even step outside, even for photos.
The West Mill is an industrial style wedding venue and will be exclusive to you and your guests so you won’t have any weirdos wandering around (apart from me). I love all the walls and textures and the lamps & windows, everything is very photogenic. Another bonus is that there are different floors for different parts of the day, so there’s no being shoved into a tiny bar whilst the room is turned around, like often happens at venues. I highly recommend booking The West Mill for your wedding venue, and then booking me to be your wedding photographer! We were looked after well by the staff too, we even got a three course meal (especially rare to get a vegan dessert!). Thumbs up all round.

Here are a few of my favourites from Luisa & Adrian’s travel themed wedding day.
I like to include a lot of photographs in my blogs, rather than just selecting the absolute best few, to give viewers a good overview of the wedding gallery, so you’ll find images from each part of the day. Please do scroll down to see photos from the wedding ceremony, drinks reception, speeches, relaxed portraits of the couple and the party, after the prep and pre ceremony photos.
This is still only roughly 10% of the full wedding gallery.
Thanks for looking. If you like the look of my work then feel free to get in touch to see if I can photograph your wedding at The West Mill, or anywhere else for that matter.
